The Astronomy of the Bible: An Elementary Commentary on the Astronomical References of Holy Scripture by E. Walter Maunder

This book made an intense study of commentaries and references relating to Astronomy in the Holy Scripture Bible. The reader should not be misguided by the title of the book. The author has done an immense analysis of Astronomical references in bible and made a comparison with the knowledge acquired by astronomers of modern Astronomy. The author tries to trace out a connection between the spirituality and the scientific theories of modern Astronomy. The author has made the study in such a way that one supplemented other. There is limitation in science in explaining theories of heaven and often references made in the scripture are incomplete. This book will be unique in itself in the study of Astronomy and bring out various points which are the subject matter of further research.

The initial chapters of the book discuss the theory of creation of earth both in scientific aspect and according to the spiritual genesis theory. This book has also done research to find the significance of commentaries which gave them its place in the Bible. The author’s deduction after the analysis of commentaries on Astronomy in Bible is very interesting and thought provoking. This book is not as simple as it appears to be. The book is divided into two parts. The first book is general in nature which studies the heavenly bodies from the point of view of the Holy Scripture and its association with the modern Astronomy. The second book goes deeper and associates the Astronomical references back to the Bible.
